Mom & Dad,
Teaching children to know right from wrong is one of the toughest challenges parents have to face.
You want your child to have the tools to succeed in life, but protecting them from peer pressure, bullying, and internet predators can make any parent feel overwhelmed with anxiety and stress.
The good news is that at Nyam-Ochir Training Center in Bellevue, our kids Judo program is the perfect companion to help you raise a strong, confident leader, teaching confidence, focus & self-defense skills.
Parenting should not have to be a stressful task you face alone!
Positive Mental Attitude
High Goal-Setting
Respect & Self-Confidence
We focus on the personal development aspect of martial arts, not just self-defense moves.
Our instructors are all certified, qualified and licensed to teach martial arts.
Our facility is always clean and features a viewing area for parents, as well as matted floors throughout.
is a victim of bullying

Our students regularly go on to join Ivy schools and become community leaders. The values they learn during their martial arts journey are the same you teach at home and last a lifetime.
Social interaction teaches kids how to effectively work as part of a team.
Martial Arts helps improve coordination and is an excellent form of exercise.
Building healthy habits early on can help prevent obesity and diabetes later in life.
Competition helps kids learn that it is not always the strongest and the brightest who are successful but rather those who work hard and stick with it
Complex physical activities such as martial arts have proven to strengthen the brain’s neural networks, helping kids improve their focus and self-control. This can be especially beneficial for kids with ADD/ADHD.
The traditional nature of martial arts teaches kids respect in their classes, whether they are taking a bow or waiting patiently for the next set of instructions. This sense of respect also helps kids improve their grades, while improving their listening skills at home and in school.
Judo focuses on throws and grappling. As parents, one of our biggest fears is our daughter being attacked and being wrestled to the ground by the attacker. Judo teaches you how to throw an attacker to the ground and take control on the ground. The judo training allows you regular practice as part of the sport and self-defense and will be something that your child can put into use when necessary. Judo is an Olympics sport and a martial art at the same time.
Traditional Kodokan Judo is our primary focus, approximately 50% of our intermediate/advanced youth members compete regularly (and do very well). We believe that competition helps bring the best in your child as they learn how to set goals in life. More importantly, they learn the most important lesson in judo "you can fall 7 times but you get up 8 times". Please note that while competition is a beneficial way to test one's skills, it is not the absolute focus of our dojo and participation in competitions is not a requirement to advance. We welcome everyone who wants to learn judo, be it competitive or recreational.
Absolutely not! We have classes for all ability levels and no previous experience is required. More experienced members help new ones, and we make sure that everyone feels right at home on their first day of class.
Even though we practice self-defense moves and we do practice some sparring drills, your child will not be "fighting" anyone or getting hurt. Of course there is always the potential for injury with any sports activity, however, our instructors take great care to make sure everyone practices at their own pace without getting injured. Judo is a defensive martial art which focuses on grappling and control. In many cases, the smaller person has the advantage. There are Kata (forms) that include striking, but it is only practiced by higher-ranking Judokas.
Our martial arts classes' primary goal is to make sure our students have fun in a playful, safe environment. Come and see a class for yourself - the kids have a blast and our instructors do too.
No, our classes are a good mix of boys and girls of all fitness levels. Beginners train alongside some of the more experienced kids, helping each other out in a fun team environment.
